Adoption Options

The Colorado International Adoption Process

Adoption Options has been involved with international adoption for many years. Throughout the years the agency has been involved in the placement of children from Guatemala, India, Ecuador, Belarus, Latvia, Russia and Hungary, to name a few countries. International adoption offers alternative choices for families wishing to adopt, who, for various reasons, do not wish to adopt domestically. Each country has different requirements, policies and procedures and interested families need to check with the agency if they are interested in a particular country.

Although Adoption Options does not currently have its own international program we are licensed to complete assessments (home studies) for families that have chosen to work with an out of state agency for placement of a child from a foreign country. You find the out of state agency that you are most interested in working with and then contract with Adoption Options to complete your assessment and provide it to USCIS and your placing agency. It is difficult to determine each country’s fees, but generally they are higher than domestic adoption. Following placement of the child, Adoption Options will provide post placement support and complete the validation process for the family, if required.

On February 29, 2008, Adoption Options was granted full accreditation under The Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption. Following a rigorous review of agency practice and policy, Adoption Options became one of only 110 agencies in the country to receive full accreditation.
